I did my final tests today for Basic I. One written, one spoken. I think it went okay, so I think I'll probably get the certificate. Basic II starts in March, so I have a little break. Time to catch up on the other courses. Since no one at the language school seems to know about how to volunteer at any of the orphanages here, I am planning on just going on my own one of these days. For some reason I feel like working with little kids here.
Tomorrow is the beginning of Carnaval, and I'm really excited. I've been reading about it in school for so many years, I'm really pumped about getting to be here for it. I'm expecially excited to see men dress up like women. Maybe it's my NCSA days :).
I need to work on my accounting class tonight, in Portuguese it's called "contabilidade". I like that word so much more. It makes it sound almost interesting :). I think I may take Zack's advice and take off the rest of the summer after these courses end. I want to keep moving, but I'd much rather be doing Brazillian things than sitting at a computer with an English textbook. And, since we're going to be in Rio right before we go home, I'd like to just be free to enjoy that. By the way, for all the native-English speakers (which is probably all y'all), Rio de Janiero literally means "January River" and is pronounced "hio jee janeeroo".
