Exam!

So, the end of Portuguese for Beginners is Friday. If we want the little certificate, we must pass a written and spoken exam. I did not go to class 3 hours a day for 5 weeks for nothing! I am determined to get it, so I am trying to speak Portuguese as much as possible now. I know I should be doing that anyway, but sometimes you just need a little incentive. Like a certificate :).

I'm actually going to miss my class. I don't know who of them is staying on, but I really enjoyed fumbling around in Portuguese with them. I never imagined I would be trying to converse with Asians in Portuguese. Never again will I laugh at foreigners trying to speak English to each other.

We actually didn't go to the gay club last weekend, it was raining hard and we all kind of lost steam. Maybe another time. We just have to have enough women to go together, because, as I've come to see, gay clubs don't sound like good places for straight men from what I've heard.

We found out today that if we pay the police 6o reais (about 30 dollars), we don't have to leave the country for 24 hours after 90 days. However, I still want to go to Buenos Aires, so I think we'll shell out. It seems silly to be all the way down here and not go see another country for a few days.

I also learned that I cannot sell anything on Ebay that I must ship from Brasil. To those who I sell for in the US, don't worry. I just can't ship anything here for myself. Apparently it's about 30 dollars to ship something in a box and it takes about 20 days. Yes, I know it sounds very odd, but a Brazillian verified this for me. So, unfortunately, I won't be able to make money off Havaianas :(. However, at least I know what not to waste time on. I think soon I will start advertising myself as an English tutor. I just want to be able to speak Portuguese a little bit better. Maybe when I get into Portuguese II.
